Our Ion-Selective Electrodes (ISEs) are double junction combination electrodes and do not require an external reference electrode.  Potassium is a PVC type ISE, Refillableelectrode with a replaceable membrane. With an epoxy body and the great performance it provides, it's a great value 

 

Potassium is a non-Auto ID sensor that comes with an included Forston Labs electrode amplifier that can be used with any manufacturers ion selective electrode or other BNC style electrochemical sensor (e.g. pH, ORP, etc).

SPECIFICATIONS:

Sensor Type:

PVC membrane type (special, potassium-selective iopnophores are added to a liquefied PVC matrix and then allowed to gel or harden)

Measurement Range:

0.00001M to 1M (10-6M to 1M)

0.04ppm to 39,000ppm

pH Range:

This ISE performs best when the pH is between 2.5 and 11 since hydrogen and hydroxide ions can interfere

Temperature Range:

It is best to use this electrode at 25ºC but it will perform well if calibration standards and samples are near the same temperature. It should not be used outside of the range 0-40 ºC.

Electrode Slope:

This electrode has an ideal slope of 59mV per 10-fold (decade) change in concentration but is typically lower than that. A slope from 55-60 mV/Decade is typical.

Voltage Range:

ISE meters that allow for -1999 to 1999 mV typically work well with this and other ISEs (Similar voltage properties to the existing ammonium ISE)

Reproducibility:

±2% is feasible with good laboratory procedure

Minimum sample size:

As long as the Reference Junction and the Sensor are immersed in the sample, it should be able to make a measurement. If a small sample container like a test tube is used, this can be as little as 1 mL but if a 25ml beaker is used, you may need as much as 5-10mL to cover the reference junction and the sensor.

Interferences:

These ions, when present in solution while measuring Potassium (K+) with an ISE could cause higher than actual readings per the following table.

Example: If you are measuring Potassium in the 10-3 Molar Range, and Sodium (Na+) is present at a level of 2.0 Moles/Liter, then your measured results could be showing about 10% high.
